The rewards for working at BMC include more than a paycheck. They include benefits and programs for your health, for your financial security and for your life outside of work.

Stop 2: Medical Plan Choices

Medical coverage is the top attraction on the BMC Benefits Tour. You can choose coverage under the Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Savings Account (HSA) or PPO plans. California residents can also choose the Kaiser HMO...

Medical coverage is the top attraction on the BMC Benefits Tour. You can choose coverage under the Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Savings Account (HSA) or PPO plans. California residents can also choose the Kaiser HMO. Review the medical plan options to find the right plan for you.

The HSA is a high-deductible medical plan with a tax-free Health Savings Account (HSA). You can contribute before-tax dollars to help pay for your share of health care expenses. BMC will match your HSA contributions up to $1,100. The match you receive depends on your annual base salary and who you cover. Unused money in your HSA rolls over from year to year for you to use for future health expenses or save for retirement.

As part of the medical plan you select, you also have prescription drug and mental health/substance abuse benefits. If you enroll in the PPO or HSA Plan, you also have access to telehealth through MDLIVE®, a cost-saving way to receive non-urgent medical care and behavioral therapy without leaving your home.

Your coverage begins on your date of hire. You’ll receive separate medical and prescription drug member ID cards and a spending account card about three weeks after you enroll. The dental and vision plans do not issue member ID cards.

Manage your health and your budget
BMC funds about 80% of the cost of medical coverage and employees pay the rest through paycheck contributions. When you learn to use your health care benefits more effectively, you help make the most of the money we spend and get better care. Coverage when you travel
Traveling for fun: You are covered by your medical plan and more when you travel, giving you protection and peace of mind for your trip. Your medical benefits even travel with you when you venture outside of the U.S.

Focus on Your Health

Your BMC health benefits deliver exceptional value to help you better manage your health. You can participate in these programs at no cost to you.

BMC offers employees and their eligible dependents Health Advocacy Solutions (HAS). This service gives you confidential, one-on-one help from an industry expert who knows the ins and outs of the complex health care system.

Specialized health advocates are skilled at working with health care providers, insurance plans, and other health-related organizations. They can resolve complex clinical and administrative issues – saving you time, money, and worry.

Dental: The BMC Dental Plan provides preventive care and comprehensive coverage for major dental and orthodontic procedures for adults and children.

Vision: The BMC Vision Plan covers annual eye exams, eyeglass lenses or contacts, frames and discounts on items like sunglasses and laser eye surgery.

Fertility and Family Forming: ARC Fertility offers comprehensive fertility and family-forming benefits for employees, covering all genders, sexual orientations, and stages of the family cycle, from pre-conception counseling through menopause. Learn more.

Wellness: The BMC wellness program — bWell — is designed to enhance your well-being and help you reach your health and financial goals. The bWell program offers unique wellness incentive challenges throughout the year and features easy-to-use online tools. When you participate in the BMC bWell program and earn rewards, you can choose cash rewards*, medical premium discounts or both.

Please note: *If you choose a cash reward (gift card), the Internal Revenue Code considers the gift card value as taxable income.

The bWell program is open to all employees and welcomes spouses to participate. While spouses are not eligible for BMC rewards, inviting your spouse to join you can help propel you both into making positive, healthier choices together. To invite your spouse to join the bWell program, log in to mybmcwellness.com after registering and select the Family option.

Focus on Your Wealth

BMC offers benefits to help you protect your income today and build financial resources for your future.

Flexible Spending Accounts – or FSAs – allow you to set aside before-tax dollars, up to IRS limits, to pay for eligible expenses. Learn more about FSAs in the Benefits Guide.

Disability: Disability benefits will replace a percentage of your income if you miss work due to pregnancy, an illness or personal injury. BMC pays the cost of basic disability coverage. Optional additional long-term disability coverage is also available. Learn more about disability in the Benefits Guide.

Life Insurance: BMC provides basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance at no cost to you. You may also purchase coverage for yourself and your family. Learn more about life and accident insurance in the Benefits Guide.

Retirement: The BMC 401(k) Plan is a powerful way to help you build a healthy financial future. If you contribute 5% of your pay each paycheck, BMC will contribute 5%. That’s 10% of your pay in one year going toward your future. Learn more about the BMC 401(k) plan in the Benefits Guide and review your contribution limits.
If you contributed to a previous employer's qualified plan, BMC can assist you in ensuring that you do not exceed these limits.

Focus on Your Life Away From Work

In addition to health care, income protection and saving benefits, BMC Software offers a variety of benefits and programs that help our employees pursue a healthy work/life balance.

Time Away: BMC recognizes that in order to do your work well, you also need time away from work to refresh and recharge. Learn more about paid time off, holidays and leaves in the Benefits Guide.

The Backup Care Advantage Program offers you in-home and center-based backup childcare, eldercare, and petcare at a subsidized rate for up to 10 uses per year.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential assistance when you have a problem and don’t know where to turn. You and your immediate family members are eligible for up to six free in-person behavioral health counselling sessions per issue each calendar year. Learn more about the EAP in the Benefits Guide.

Tuition Reimbursement: BMC offers up to $5,500 per calendar year for college-level studies (undergraduate and graduate) for active, full-time employees. It's our way to help you improve your job performance or prepare you for your next job at BMC.
Please note: Reimbursement of amounts over $5,250 are considered taxable income in the tax year the money is received.

Fitness Reimbursement: BMC offers up to $225 per calendar year to help pay for fitness activities outside your home. At BMC, it pays to work out.

Adoption Assistance: BMC provides financial assistance of $5,000 to help you pay agency fees, court fees and other adoption-related expenses.

Commuter Account: This benefit lets you pay for eligible transit and vanpool expenses from your paycheck on a before-tax basis.

ClassPass: BMC provides a $10 a month discount on memberships at ClassPass, the world’s largest studio, and gym network. There is also a no cost option to access ClassPass’ video library.

Milk Stork: Employee moms who are just transitioning back to work have access to Milk Stork while traveling. The benefit includes Milk Stork kits with breast milk storage bags, a refrigerated box for packing, and a tote if mothers choose to carry milk with them.

IonTuition: This benefit can help you manage your student loans more efficiently, pay them off faster and cheaper, and help you live a debt-free life.

Group legal is an optional plan that provides coverage for important legal expenses such as adoption, wills, estate planning, and real estate transactions.

Identity Theft Protection helps you safeguard your finances, credit and more.

Group auto and home insurance provides discounted rates on homeowners, renters, auto and property insurance.

Pet health insurance helps pay for covered health care for these special family members at the licensed vet of your choice.

Stop 4: Time to Enroll!

In your first 31 days
You have 31 days from your hire date to enroll for benefits. After 31 days, you won’t be able to enroll or make changes to your benefits until annual enrollment (typically in the October/November timeframe), unless you get married, have a baby or experience another qualified status change…

After 31 days, you won’t be able to enroll or make changes to your benefits until annual enrollment (typically in the October/November timeframe), unless you get married, have a baby or experience another qualified status change. To enroll, go to mybmcrewards.com, and click on Go To Your Benefits Resources then click on Enroll in Your Benefits! Our enrollment website, Your Benefits Resources (YBR), will take you through everything you need to do in just a few simple steps. See the Paycheck Costs for medical, dental and vision plans.

If you’re enrolling dependents, you will need to provide documentation to support their eligibility — like a marriage license and birth certificate — and send it to YBR within 45 days of your hire date.

If you don’t enroll yourself or your eligible dependents within 31 days of your hire date, you will NOT receive medical coverage but you will be automatically covered by these BMC benefits:

  • Basic Life Insurance
  • Short-Term Disability
  • Basic Long-Term Disability
  • Business Travel Accident
  • Employee Assistance Program

Later On
Once you’ve been with BMC one week, remember to:

  • Sign up for the BMC 401(k) Savings Plan. You can get the most from BMC’s matching contribution to your account by contributing 5% of your eligible pay, but if that’s too much, start small, say at 2% and work your way up over a couple of years.
  • Start earning wellness rewards. After you’ve selected or opted out of a BMC medical plan, create your bWell account at mybmcwellness.com and start earning bWell rewards.
  • Make your benefits mobile. Use your benefits on-the-go with mobile apps, available at Stop 5.

Make this the day you enroll in the BMC 401(k) Savings Plan on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. In about the time it takes to download an app, you can choose to enroll with a savings approach that’s right for you.

The Express Scripts mobile app provides easy access to drug prices and lower-cost options—such as generic alternatives—under your BCBSTX plans.

The MDLIVE Mobile App* connects you with a doctor from anywhere, anytime. In addition to medical and pediatric care, MDLIVE also offers behavioral health therapy services and psychiatry.

The Reimburse Me App helps you manage your BMC HSA, flexible spending accounts and commuter account on the go.

The NetBenefits® Mobile App gives you access to your BMC 401(k) account anytime, anywhere.
