Say “Yes” to Controlling Health Risks
Ever since we introduced the new wellness program last month, BMC colleagues are saying “yes” to taking control of their health risks by getting their free, confidential health screenings.
Are you one of them? Great! You’ve taken the first step to taking charge of your health. Haven’t done it yet? No sweat. Here’s how it works.
- Step 1: Get a health screening. A health screening is a fast, free and confidential way to check your blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index, and blood sugar. Find everything you need to know about the health screenings on the Healthways scheduling website—how to schedule screenings, how to prepare, and what to expect during your appointment. Can’t attend one of the onsite screenings? No problem! You can order a home finger-stick kit or a form for your doctor to complete. Kits or forms must be ordered by July 1, 2012 to ensure Healthways receives your health screening results by the July 31 deadline.
- Step 2: Starting April 23, Take a Well-Being Assessment™. This confidential online survey gives you a snapshot of your health and an action plan to reduce any risks. Complete both the health screening and the Well-Being Assessment by July 31, 2012, to earn your $600 credit ($50/month) off your 2013 medical plan premiums! Visit www.mybmcwellness.com and complete your Well-Being Assessment™ starting April 23.
- Step 3: Finish Well. Once you know your risks, do something about them. Sign up for health coaching and use the new tools and resources that can help if you want to quit smoking, exercise more, or eat healthier.
