Know Your Prescription Drug Coverage, Save Big
If you are enrolled in one of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) medical plans, prescription drug coverage, administered by Express Scripts, is included with your medical coverage. With your drug coverage, you can get prescriptions usually at big savings at more than 67,000 chain and independent pharmacies in the Express Scripts network. If home delivery is an option for your prescription drugs, for example maintenance medications for cholesterol, then use it! You’ll typically see the highest savings through this program.
Watch this brief Express-Scripts video on how to get started with home delivery and get your 90-day prescription sent right to your mailbox.
Paying for Prescriptions
Prescription expenses are covered just like any other medical expense. When you fill a prescription as a retail pharmacy, simply present your BCBSTX medical ID card and form of payment. If you have funds in a Health Savings Account or in a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (if enrolled in the PPO plan), you’ll likely pay for your prescription using the Your Spending Account VISA debit card. If you have questions about your prescription drug coverage, please call Express Scripts at 1-866-577-2523. Good to know: Stay in network. If you shop at retail pharmacies that are not in the Express Scripts network, you will pay 50% of the cost of prescriptions.
