Time and Money-Saving Tips for 2018

When it comes to your health care, your BMC benefits provide many options for saving time and money.

  • Know your cost before you go. Use Healthcare Bluebook to compare the cost and quality of healthcare providers near you. Healthcare Bluebook’s Go Green to Get Green rewards program will send you a check for $25, $50, or $100 if you choose a “green” provider for certain medical procedures, like MRIs. A “green” provider charges the fair market price or less.
  • Get preventive care. Preventive care helps you avoid costly problems down the road. Plus, it’s free with all BMC medical plans.
  • Use network providers. BCBSTX.com makes it easy to find quality providers near you. You save two ways when you stay in the network because you pay: 1) lower negotiated rates and lower, in-network coinsurance. Watch the medical plan basics video to learn more.
  • Save time—and an expensive trip to urgent care—by using MDLIVE, included with all BCBSTX plans. MDLIVE gives you 24/7 access to doctors and therapists by phone or video.
