March 31 Deadline to Claim FSA, Fitness Benefits
If you had a 2018 Health Care, Limited Use Health Care or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), the deadline for submitting eligible expenses is Sunday, March 31, 2019. Expenses must have been incurred during 2018 to be eligible for reimbursement. Under IRS regulations, an unused balance of $500 or less in your account on December 31, 2018, was carried over to your 2019 Health Care FSA (HCFSA) balance. (Please note: The FSA carryover rule doesn’t apply to the Dependent Care FSA.)
Submit claims through Your Spending Account (YSA). To request reimbursement, log on to My BMC Compensation & Benefits and select Visit My Spending Accounts.
Once YSA receives and processes your claim, they will deposit your reimbursement amount directly into your checking or savings account on file, or send your check to your mailing address on file. If you receive a check, cash it immediately. Stale-dated checks are reported as unclaimed property to the state.
If you have questions about your balance or account, contact YSA at 1-877-262-4849. Representatives are available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Eastern time.
